Background

Every year about 15 people die lonely in Amsterdam. In 2002, poet F. Starik started the lonely funeral to say goodbye to this person in a dignified way. He gathered a group of poets and called them "the circle of death". Bianca Sistermans and Hester van Hasselt have been working since 2012 on a project about the lonely funeral, Here I exist. On September 21, the exhibition "Here I exist" is at the Dutch Cemetery. The "festival" is an initiative of Bianca Sistermans (photographer) and Hester van Hasselt (writer).

Brief

'Brand the festival of loneliness'
Make the festival a brand and a communication campaign to create awareness about the festival and the phenomenon of Loneliness. Not only publishing the book, but also discussion within different segments of society is important.

Target group: The whole of the Netherlands

Concept

We live in a world where the lonely human being is invisible. Social media has a reinforcing effect on this. Loneliness has acquired a face in which real contact no longer matters, this face is the "face of loneliness".

The face of loneliness is the brand that gives loneliness a face. It highlights loneliness through a campaign and five events. As a Dutchman, we become aware of the problem. Together we look for the true face behind loneliness.

Insight

  • Social media has a strengthening effect on loneliness.
  • Lonely people are still very invisible at the moment.

Goals

  • Set up a brand (the umbrella) for existing and future events.
  • Create an awareness campaign for the brand and for
    publicly discussing loneliness.
